Mental Health counseling is appropriate for anyone that meets the criteria for a mental health disorder as defined by the DSM-V. The DSM-V was created to help behavioral health providers define and label mental health disorders. Mental Health counseling can be billed to insurance depending on the insurance company. Using your insurance benefit requires that evidenced based techniques be used to treat your mental health disorder. Mental Health counseling, almost always requires a diagnosis, which can be stigmatizing to some people.
When working with Cristi, the first session requires an assessment of your overall functioning. This includes questions about your history, medical problems, current symptoms, and previous treatments. A plan is then developed to address the current symptoms.
